One of my favorite photographs of Waikiki, this image was the result of patience, planning, and a bit of luck. It took several evenings to create because Waikiki's beaches are almost always filled with visitors. My vision was to capture a sunset during a falling tide using a long exposure, revealing the delicate tide lines etched into the sand while transforming the ocean into a soft, painterly wash.

For the first four evenings, someone inevitably walked across the freshly smoothed sand just before sunset, leaving footprints that changed the scene. On my final evening, everything came together. The tide, the light, and an untouched stretch of beach, resulting in the tranquil image you see here.
